A visit from Granny and Papa

My parents came to stay with us for a few days to visit the Renaissance Exhibition at the National Gallery, and they timed it nicely with Dad's birthday. :) We had a very busy couple of days with them here!

They knew right where to park thanks to Tassy.

The first day I took Tassy out of school and we all went shopping at DFO, then lunch and dessert at The Flute, then on to the exhibition after lunch. We always visit the kids room in the exhibition and this one was my favourite yet! Here are some pics from the day. The exhibition was wonderful.

We took a little drive to the tiny town of Tharwa which is only a few minutes from our house. This old store is the only thing in the town but I only recently found out that it sells antiques and collectibles so I thought we might take a little drive there. I had always known that it was owned by Val Jeffery and thought we might be related to him (my Nanny was a Jeffery and the spelling is unusual). Dad had a chat with the elderly owner and it turns out we are related - both our families are from the tiny town of Wingello in the Southern Tablelands so Dad was pretty stoked with that. The store is an Auspost agency and we had some parcels to post and it was so cute to post them there. I think we probably made his quota for the month with our two parcels LOL. We loved the little antique store. It had lots of op shoppy type things for sale too. Mum and I bought lots of things - I didn't get to photograph mum's purchase before she went home but I'll photograph mine and share them soon. Mum LOVED the shop and thought it was just like visiting her grandmothers' houses. We called in to Lanyon homestead for morning tea on the way home - that's the last photo.

It was lovely be with Dad on his birthday too. I can't remember when the last time would have been!
