Floriade
We only managed a quick visit to Floriade this year. Tassy's school ukulele band were playing on stage the last day of the school term. Dave doesn't work Friday and, even though I usually do, I had taken the Friday off to go to Sydney at lunchtime, so we were both able to go and watch in the morning. It was a lightning quick trip, but I managed to snap some photos of the beautiful bulbs, and to buy a cup of yummy honey puffs (hot doughnuts). I hate to miss Floriade!

Merimbula Aquarium
I held back my photos from Merimbula Aquarium cos I know I overdosed you on our holiday photos. :) Plus the aquarium was awesome enough to deserve a post all of its own.
If you ever go there I recommend going at feeding time. The guide we had was fantastic and told us so many interesting things about the sea creatures we saw. The tour/feeding went for an hour.
I am totally creeped out by octopus. They are fascinating, but they just creep me out. This one could open a jar to get his dinner. Very impressive. And so creepy.
These are cuttlefish. They are the weirdest looking creatures! I only knew them by their remains on the beach which birds like to grind their beaks on. I had no idea what they actually looked like in life. They are related to octopus and are very intelligent. And they can change colour!
These are cuttlefish eggs! Also creepy, but fascinating.
This is a Sea Pen. Weird hey!

This was an amazing wall of crayfish shells all from the same crayfish.

Merimbula
Happy New Year! And now I will take you back in time to November, playing catch up on my blog. :)
Dave had a milestone birthday in November and not being one for parties he decided to celebrate with the three of us spending a week at the beach. We stayed in a beautiful apartment on the river, walking distance to the beach in one direction and town in the other. We walked to the beach, explored the estuary, swam, ate out, saw some movies and just had a nice, relaxing week. With plenty of presents for the birthday boy. Here come a mountain of photos from our week.
There were SO many dead muttonbirds all along the beaches.
