More Books

I dropped off some bags to the Op Shop today after Jazzercise. You drop them off around the back of the store but have to go the long way around to the front of the store if you want to go inside. So I dropped off my bags at the back and drove around the front making a deal with myself "If there's a free parking spot then I'll go inside, otherwise I'll go straight home." It was a pretty tough deal cos on weekdays there are usually no free parking spots cos it's a very busy complex. But lo and behold there were two! People must have stayed home cos it was such a cold, wet, wild and windy day. So I went inside and had a good look around since I didn't have anywhere else I had to be.

I found a gorgeous crochet rug. It's a bit of a funny shape - a long skinny rectangle. But I love the colours. There was also a maroon and green one but I left that one there for someone else. I did pretty well with books today too.

The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks
...because I liked the movie but didn't LOVE it, like everyone else seemed to. So I'm going to try it from a different angle.

Eragon by Christopher Paolini
...because Tassy and I loved the movie and I think she'll enjoy the book. She's a fantastic reader.

Left Bank by Kate Muir
...because I thought about getting it last time I was there (weeks ago) and it was still there. I'd never heard of it before I saw it at the Op Shop but I love the cover and it sounds like a nice story.

A Life in Frocks by Kelly Doust
...because I read her blog and am keen to read about frocks. :) I recently read The Secret Life of Dresses and loved that. This isn't a novel tho.

The Little Coffee Shop of Kabul by Deborah Rodriguez
... because I remember reading about it in a bookstore newsletter email recently. I can't remember anything about it other than the name tho, LOL.

Winnie the Pooh - A Treasury by AA Milne
...because it's classic Pooh (not Disney Pooh) and I thought Charlotte would like to read it to baby Jaimeson.

Last night I finished reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. I loved it. I love the way it was written, so unconventional, and so much like Tassy's style of writing. I even came to love the narrator, who you would think would be an unlovable character. It was a wonderful book.

Recently I read Like Water for Chocolate. And let me just say "WHAT THE?". Maybe a lot was lost in translation. It was weird, like it wasn't sure if it was meant to be a love story or a cookbook or a fairytale or erotica. Just plain weird. I bought it from the Op Shop and it went straight back there!

Looking forward to reading a Sherlock Holmes short story tonight then starting a new book.

The Op Shop is a great way to buy books as new ones are sooo expensive. Linda and Adrian thought even our secondhand books in Australia were dear!
I have finally gotten into reading after 50 years!! I'm reading a book at the moment called The
Grafton Girls and there are 4 of them!! It's set in England during WWII.
Love Mum
WV: brands
I wear clothes of different brands
