The Alaskans

We had a big day today. We spent the day playing tourists with our rellies. "The Alaskans" are here so my Auntie and Uncle in Sydney have been playing Tour Guides. They hired a mini-bus and came to Canberra overnight. Auntie Dot is about to turn 96 and is still travelling half way around the world! She's my Grandpa's sister and even tho she was a war bride and has lived in Alaska for over 60 years she still comes here a lot to see the rest of the family, so we have seen a lot of Auntie Dot and her boys over the years. We love them! We actually all met halfway in Hawaii in 1990 for a big family holiday. So we went out to dinner with them last night and today they called in to our place on their way to another rellies place for morning tea. We went too and it turns out they live only 1½km from our place. Then we want to Parliament House and the War Memorial. Here's a photo of us at the War Memorial. It looks like this photo was taken BEFORE the guy asked us to "step away from the paintings people". Auntie Dot's just in a wheelchair cos we did lots of walking but she can get around with her walking stick. She's pretty good for almost 96! That's Auntie Julie (mum's twin sister) in the blue dress and her husband was taking the photo. And check out how tall all "the boys" are. I'm no shortie and they tower over me. Mike is 6 foot 8! Here's Tassy flying the chopper at the War Memorial. After we left the group we had to get our smashed car window fixed (I'll leave that for another post), then pick up Dave and were finally home at 6pm. Exhausted! But it was a fantastic day. "D
