I bought this fabric at an op shop a few years ago. I didn't have a clue what I'd do with it, since it's a knit fabric, but it was a lovely colour and I liked the texture. Recently the idea came to me to make it into a dress similar to this one. So I laid the grey one on the fabric and cut.
I was really unhappy with the neck especially - I'm trying to cover it up with a scarf LOL. So I unpicked the stitching, rescued scraps from the bin and sewed a band around the neck. SOOO much better! I'll get a photo of the improved dress at some stage. Later I rescued more scraps to maybe do the same with the ends of the arms. Ideally since I was making my own dress I would LOVE to have had super long sleeves for the first time, like, ever! But there wasn't enough fabric! I was SO bummed about that!
Dress - made by me
Tights - Target
Boots - Modcloth
Scarf - Harris Scarfe
Brooch - gift from Charlotte

What a great dress. I love the colour. You did so well with a knit. How did you do the neckline?

Love that broach too..Mardi x
it looks great! Especially for a dress you made without a pattern! Great work for rescuing the scraps and fixing the neck line! Looks sweet with your brooch :)
