What I Wore Wednesday

I had been looking all over for some chevron fabric to make myself a skirt.  I finally found some quilting fabric in a wondering store in Canberra that has so many gorgeous prints.  I've bought lots of beautiful fabrics from them before, but never with the intention of making myself clothes.

This is a really simple skirt - no pattern.  Just a straight band at the top (with a dart in each side) and a rectangular tube with a zip. Originally I pleated the skirt, but it sat really, really badly.  Instead of unpicking the whole skirt off the waistband, and the zip, I just left the zip and side seams attached, unpicked the pleats and just gathered fairly evenly.

Black tops - Target and Temt
Skirt - made by me
Boots - Diana Ferrari
Brooch - gift from Lea

Here's the skirt looking a bit more summery a month or so ago.

Top - Temt
Scarf - Sportsgirl

I have another dress to share, which i made recently.  I've just had a terrible time trying to photograph it when I've worn it - thanks to long work days and short daylight hours!  Hopefully I'll get a half decent photo soon (the above photos are only half decent too!).

It looks like one of those American glamour shots. You look just gorgeous. You are doing so well with your sewing. You are an inspiration. I am hoping to get to make myself some clothes this winter, like skirts as I like them a bit longer and fuller than what is in the shops. I would love to use up some of my fabric stash too.
