Finished Vintage Sheet Quilt!

Hooray for me, I finished my vintage sheet quilt this week! I so love it. And I love that all the girls in the swap have quilts that look so similar. A quilt family if you will. :)

I want the quilt to be useful for a long time - keeping in mine that my tall girl will outgrow her narrow 6 foot vintage bed in a few years time. I slept on it till I left home at 19 but my feet stuck out thru the ornate foot of the bed. I loved the bed too much to even think about a different bed tho. We'll eventually get Tassy a king single bed when she has outgrown this one, which will be about 30cm longer and 30cm wider than her current bed. I made the quilt extra long and wide. Quilting was quite an effort and I was surprised that my arms ached from lifting and pushing the quilt thru the sewing machine LOL. But it was worth it!

If you're interested, you can see some of my progress posts by clicking on the Quilt label at the bottom of this post.

Congratulations! The fruits of your labour are beautiful! I love looking at patchwork and remembering where all the pieces came from. A wonderful heirloom for Tassy too.

Yvette it's beautiful and well worth the effort. What a joy to look at all those gorgeous old prints and colours and know that what was discarded has now been given new life and purpose.
Great work.

It looks beautiful:) I finished mine finally and i ended up using a woollen blanket from my mil that she got as a wedding present as the batting and the backing i used an old vintage sheet. I love mine. I just remembered, i dont think i have posted a pic of it finished on my blog yet....Mardi and I quilt shared one day when we were out for coffee and it was such a buzz to see them together, so similar yet so different:)Like you said, a part of a family:)
